Homework

HOMEWORK Year

ReadingChildren are expected to read aloud, at home, at least 4 times each week. Please use the reading record book to record their reading and provide any helpful feedback. An adult should sign the book to show they have completed their reading homework. Reading aloud is an important skill to keep practising - even for more confident readers. Discussing the texts being shared; making predictions, reflecting, reviewing and making comparisons are beneficial activities too.Reading records should be brought to school each day. They will be checked weekly - usually on a Friday.
MathsChildren are expected to practise their times tables on a regular basis. Children will be told which tables they need to focus on - it is best to practise and learn one set of tables at a time, before moving onto trickier ones. Children need to learn the division facts too. Children should be accessing Times Tables Rockstars at least once a week. Weekly battles will be set (Link below).Children will be tested each week. Teachers will check the TTRs website to see that children are logging on each week.
Writing A piece of writing will be sent home for children to complete an editing task.Sent home on a Friday - we will be going through the task together in class on the following Friday. Copies of the task are available below, in case you lose it.
SpellingsChildren will be introduced to a new spelling rule each Thursday, in class time. Children are expected to learn and practise their weekly spellings using SPELLING FRAME (Link below). After practising, they should select to be tested. Please see 'Spellings' (Follow the link below) for details of the week's spelling rule, and some additional, optional activities.Teachers will be checking to see who has completed their test, each week, on SPELLING FRAME. new spellings will be set each Thursday.
