Homework
Expectations for Year 3 (2022-23)
Homework is set to reinforce and practise the learning in school.
Reading | Reading is the most important skill to support your child with. Even the most able readers need to rehearse their reading aloud skills in order to demonstrate good levels of fluency, accuracy and comprehension. | Please listen to them read aloud at least four times weekly and date and sign their blue reading record book. Please add any comments which you think might be helpful. Books are checked each Friday. |
Maths |
Learning times tables are key to being able to access so much in maths. Times tables via Times Tables Rock Stars is set as ongoing weekly maths homework, as it encourages children to practise in a fun way whilst increasing their mental speed and accuracy. | TTRS is checked regularly by Mrs Burns and Mr Cradock. 'Old school' paper can also be used to practise on, as well as verbally, if PC use is an issue.
Times tables are tested at least x2 weekly in school. |
Spelling |
Children have been grouped according to their spelling strength and will be set weekly spellings on Spelling Frame. Spelling rules are taught in class and then practised and tested at home. Spelling Frame has lots of fun games and activities to help teach your child the spelling pattern. | Spellings are set Monday to Monday - please ensure your child tests themselves during that time. Yellow spelling books will be checked each Monday - please note down each time Spelling Frame has been used. In the case of technology problems, spare spellings can be collected from Mrs Burns or Mr Cradock for children to practise on paper at home. |
